Join us Friday August 12, for a very special CHERYL. We will be throwing CHERYL: GUILTY PLEASURES in the front room of Public Assembly. In the back room there’s all sorts of good stuff, like:

The C90s – Live (Only BK stop, from the UK)
Miho Hatori – Live (Cibo Matto, Gorillaz)
Nancy Whang – DJ Set (LCD Soundsystem, the Juan Maclean)
A.Pop – Decorations (Rinsed)

All for one cover charge!

Let’s get down to business:

Take your Backstreet poster out of the closet. Dust off your NKOTB tapes. Steal that Menudo t-shirt you’ve always secretly coveted from your older gay cousin. Because CHERYL announces that it is now acceptable to testify your love for boy bands and their pop contemporaries. Guess what? We are playing this music at this party. *NSYNC, BSB, BRIT-TUH-NAY, Haddaway, Tony, Toni, Tone, New Edition. (and MUCH MUCH MORE). It’s time to do this. We can now reflect back with nostalgia and amusement on those years spent secretly masturbating in our bedrooms to Jordan Knight’s pure sexual falsetto.

Think crop tops, rat tails, white boy corn row/braces/hoop earring combos, rain-soaked button down shirts, OTT big budget sci-fi music video costumes, ripped jeans, abdominal muscles, HOMOEROTICISM.

Primp yourself accordingly for a special portrait at Lauren Darling’s portrait studio!

DJ Nick (CHERYL Resident DJ)
DJ Legendary Bishop (NYC Public School Chess Classes)

Here’s the info on the back room shenanigans for Friday night:

Back Room: LQQK!
10pm Doors, 21+
Open Vodka Bar 10-11

In addition to collaborating with the fantastic Shit Robot, Nancy Whang played keys for LCD Soundsystem (RIP) and remains vocalist for the Juan MacLean. And according to Andrew of Midnight Magic, is one of the few folks in the world who actively tours with a Prophet ’08 synth. She’ll be kicking off the night at 10pm, along with one hour of open Reyka Vodka to get the party going – that shit’s filtered through lava rocks! Clean.

At 11:30, Miho Hatori (Cibo Matto, Gorillaz, New Optimism) takes the stage. Cibo’s been touring lately and Miho’s solo sets (with Timo of Neatherlands on bass and a crew of stage dancers) keep getting better and better. Completely impossible to not-dance. People get on stage, flip out, the whole 9-yards. Do not miss this set!

Nancy will get back on the decks for a bit, before our night’s feature, The C90s, come out. All the way from the UK, this is their only Brooklyn show while in America. Fans of Midnight Magic, Holy Ghost, etc are sure to be pleased – so come out and show Jamie &
Danny some love from New York.

Topping it all off, A.PoP (of Rinsed) is decorating up the back room. Expect some mix of balloons, installation, LED lights, and awesome.
