On Saturday, December 31, the last recorded day of the ancient Mayan calendar, CHERYL presents STUDIO 2012, a New Year’s Eve party, with a special guest performance by Midnight Magic at, wait for it…MIDNIGHT. Think: Apocalyptic Disco. Cacao Conquistadors. Mesoamerican bottle service. Warring city states and cat-fights between models. Join us at STUDIO 2012, the hottest club north of Chichen Itza, known for its exclusive and often fatal door policies.

Once you make it past the velvet rope and ascend the stone steps to the ancient pyramid club doors, expect pre-Columbian mirror balls, psychoactive mushroom clouds, cocaine spoons made of clay and jade, exotic bird headdresses, polyester loincloths and golden platform heels, sacrificial offerings on the light-up disco floor, Liza Minelli wearing Bianca Jagger as a jumpsuit, maize, and a horn section (of course).

Hello, hipsters. What happens when pastiche and irony exhaust themselves as aesthetics? CHERYL: ULTIMATE RETRO.

Let’s take it back…waaaaaaay back. Not the 90s, or the 80s, 70s, 60s, 50s, 40s, like, seriously not even the 1800s. When industrial-era Victorian won’t cut it, and Greco-Roman chic is oh so tired. When we’ve laid our giant turkey legs to rest in the dust of the last ironic Renaissance fair…where will we go? In 2012, at the dawn of the collapse of American Apparel, hipsters are taking back fur, stone, fire, and prosthetic Cro-magnon foreheads like it is 80,000 years ago. Let’s go clubbing. With actual wooden clubs. At this super-underground venue we know about. It’s so underground, it’s a cave.

A 2012 magazine article in “Hipsters Ruin Everything” described the latest “ultimate retro” hipster trend as thus: “Take your great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother’s saber toothed cat shawl and Ötzi the Iceman’s copper axe, add irony, set them astride a fixed-gear stone wheel bike in the face of continental drift and bam — you’re really interesting and popular and attractive and you live in Brooklyn.”

We will be shooting the official ULTIMATE RETRO party video during the first two hours of each of our London, Porto and Lisbon tour dates. Participants in the videos will get into the party for cheap.

Then we come back to the US, edit the footage, and premiere the video at our Brooklyn ULTIMATE RETRO event, followed by tour dates in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

CHERYL does CHANUKAH

The Jewish Museum hosts CHERYL Does CHANUKAH, a holiday-themed dance party on Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 8 to 11 pm. Open bar with beer and wine from 8 to 9 pm, cash bar from 9 to 11 pm.

This year CHERYL invites you to experience the Festival of Black Lights. Think techno dreidels, cat menorahs, dance floor mitzvahs, drinks, and jelly doughnuts. CHERYL promises to capture the magic of all eight crazy nights in a mere three hours.

DJ Nick (CHERYL Resident DJ) dishes out an amazing mix of electro, new wave, italo and disco to get your dreidel spinning.

The second floor of the Museum will be open so guests can check out the exhibitions “An Artist Remembers: Hanukkah Lamps Selected by Maurice Sendak” and “The Snowy Day and the Art of Ezra Jack Keats”.
